Why Alternative Car Fuels?
Since the first car was invented, vehicles have used fossil fuels as a source of power. Unfortunately, the world supply of these fuels is not large enough to meet our needs into the future, so we need to find alternate sources of fuel. There are many different alternative fuel sources that can be used to replace fossil fuels, each with their own pros and cons. Alternative fuel vehicles run on fuels other than conventional gasoline or diesel, or use these other fuels along with gasoline. These vehicles provide hope for sustainable transportation, as fossil fuels will eventually become too expensive to be practical for continued use.
Besides just transportation, we currently rely on fossil for almost every part of our lives. Everything we buy is produced using some electricity and transported using fuel. Plastics, fabrics, waxes, and asphault are all produced from oil, and as prices of oil rise, it becomes more expensive to produce all these things. Heating our homes is often done using natural gas, and electricity is sometimes produced using fossil fuels.
